Why this feature matters: The most stressful part of the day is often the commute. Whether it's your partner driving home in bad weather or your child walking to school, the anxiety of "Did they make it?" can be overwhelming.
You shouldn't have to stare at the map or send nagging "Are you there yet?" texts to get peace of mind. Places does the watching for you. By setting up safe zones (Geofences), the app acts as a sentry, automatically alerting you the moment your loved ones arrive safely or if they leave a safe zone unexpectedly.
How it protects you:
- Instant Confirmation: Get a notification the second your child walks onto the school grounds.
- Unexpected Movement: Be alerted immediately if a family member leaves a safe location (like home) when they shouldn't be.
- Two-Way Safety: You can choose to be alerted about others, or let others know when you are safe.
How to set up a Place Alert: Creating a safety zone takes just a few seconds:
- Go to the Places Tab: Open the app and tap the 'Places' icon in the bottom navigation menu.
- Add a New Zone: Tap the '+ Add new Place' button.
- Set the Boundary:
- Location: Search for an address (e.g., "School") or move the pin on the map.
- Name: Give it a clear name like "Home" or "Work".
- Radius: Use the slider to adjust how wide the safe zone should be.
4. Activate the Alerts: This is the most important step. Use the toggles to decide who gets notified:
- Check others in: Turn this ON if you want to receive an alert when they arrive or leave this spot.
- Check me in: Turn this ON if you want them to be alerted when you arrive or leave.
5. Confirm: Tap 'Save place' to activate the zone.
Tip: You can make these zones visible landmarks on your group's map by toggling "Show on map" to ON.
Need to change a safe zone? If you move house or change schools, you can easily update your protection. Simply go to the 'Places' tab, tap the name of the place you created, and adjust the settings. If you no longer need a specific alert, just tap the trash can icon to delete it instantly.
