Why this feature matters: We all worry about those vulnerable moments: walking home alone in the dark, a car breaking down on a deserted road, or finding yourself in a situation that just feels wrong.
In a true emergency, you often don't have the time (or safety) to unlock your phone, find a contact, and type out a text explaining where you are. The SOS Feature bridges that gap. It is designed for when seconds count, instantly turning your phone into a silent alarm that screams for help on your behalf.
How it protects you:
- One-Touch Activation: No complex menus. Just one button to signal distress.
- Mass Notification: It doesn't just tell one person; it instantly alerts every member of your group simultaneously.
- Precise Location: The alert bypasses the need for words, sending your exact GPS location to your group so they know exactly where to send help.
How to activate an SOS Alert: If you feel you are in danger, follow these steps immediately:
- Press the Button: Open the app and press the large red 'SOS' button on the main map screen.
- The Safety Countdown: A 'Panic Countdown' screen will appear, counting down from 5 seconds.
- Why do we do this? This brief window exists to prevent accidental false alarms (like a pocket dial) that could panic your family unnecessarily.
- Alert Sent: Once the countdown hits zero, the alert is fired off to your group members' phones.
False Alarm? If you pressed the button by mistake, don't panic. Simply tap 'Cancel Alert' before the 5-second countdown finishes, and no notification will be sent.
Vital Safety Note: For the SOS signal to reach your group, your phone must have an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or Mobile Data).
